Back to School . . . for Connie!

As some of you are now aware, Connie has gone back to school! She graduated Conestoga College's diploma accounting program, and now has the opportunity to upgrade her standing to become a CGA (certified general accountant). It's a 3-year part-time program through Conestoga, and it is the last year this specific upgrade program is being offered here, so it's a great opportunity. Classes are Mon. and Thurs. nights with plenty of homework in between. The even better part is that Frito-Lay eventually ends up paying for the courses, which is a real plus! Thanks so much to Grandma & Granpa Ronald for babysitting Thurs. nights so Chris can still make it to choir practice too.

Test Results . . .

Just a quick update re: test results. Mostly good news; the cancer-markers have all dropped to normal levels, which means the chemo is officially over thus far. The spot on my lung however has not disappeared. This is not necessarily good or bad I’m told. The spot has not changed size since my last CT scan, so they will continue to monitor for changes. The spot could still be malignant, or it may even just be scar tissue. Any change in future scans and they’ll just go in surgically and remove that small section of lung (about the size of a quarter). My next scan is in 3 months.

Apparently, as far as treatment is concerned, it is really the markers that determine which treatment to pursue. Chemo is only necessary if the markers go up, regardless if there’s a spot or not. The oncologist tells me (I hope I’m saying this right) that testicular cancer is the only cancer which dictates treatment this way. So overall, this is mostly good news. So I go back on “surveillance” (monitoring) with no further treatment required at this time.

Thanks so much to everybody for all the well-wishes, support and prayers; you don’t know how much it means to us.
