A day at the umm... pond

We installed a pond this past week we had got on sale at end of season last year. Crystal has been pretty enthralled, and ensists on helping Dad use the bucket to keep it topped-up. Please ignore the vast areas of dead-lawn: we have a cinch-bug infestation, and are unable to spray because of the new provincial pesticide ban . . . (argghhh!!).

Story published on the Canadian Testicular Cancer Society Website

Hey folks -

Just a heads-up that my story was published on the Canadian Testicular Cancer Society's website: http://www.tctca.org/stories.html

We had a chance to meet the organization's founder while she was doing a campaign in Cambridge at the Cambridge Center. Really great lady to talk to.

Decorating the backyard fence... umm..kinda'...

Last Friday, our neighbor decided to cut down the tree in his backyard. He paid a guy he works with to do the job. It seemed he was doing a good job - until he dropped the tree through our backyard fence! I guess they left the backyard and decided to regroup, trying to figure out what to do next. Thankfully (I suppose), the guys had hopped the fence to our backyard and moved our trampoline before making the final cut. While the guys were out of the backyard, Connie had come home to find the trampoline moved, part of the tree in our yard and a section of missing fence. Connie and Crystal simply sat down on the back deck, and thought. In the meantime, the guys had returned and my neighbour said: "We need to get this fence put back up before the owner gets home and finds out what happened!". Not noticing Connie was sitting right there on the deck, a look of horror came over their faces as she yelled: "too late!". They didn't say too much after that. My neighbour went out to Home Depot and got a handful of fence-boards, tossed them over the fence and handed me a bag of nails. The guy he hired to do the cut also offered to trim or even cut my tree, which I thought was a goodwill gesture. Then he mentioned that it's gonna cost me... No thanks! I did end up fixing the fence myself, and have not seen my neighbour since. Wow.
